Blazeheart and Ambertalon watched as Redkit and her littermates play with Ripplepaw and Skypaw. Blazeheart comments that it has been half a moon since they turned six moons old, and that Bramblestar would likely apprentice them soon. Ambertalon says that Ripplepaw would be glad to have them in the apprentice's den.

Bramblestar later calls Toadstep, Seedlight, and Silentstorm into his den, telling them that he wants them to mentor his kits. At the ceremony, he assigns Toadstep as Redpaw's mentor. When Shadowpaw and Sunnypaw talk about how good a mentor Seedlight will be, Redpaw comments that she's glad to have Toadstep as a mentor because he's very patient. She tells Shadowpaw that he's very lucky to have Silentstorm as his mentor, because she heard that she once fought Breeze all on her own. Shadowpaw doesn't seem very enthusiastic.
